So the first thing you should know is that all the Tour Pak® kits include required installation hardware.

EZ Tour-Pak® Lid Catch –Allows you to add the convenience of a self-aligning Tour-Pak® lid to your Touring motorcycle. This easy-to-install kit eliminates the need to shift the position of the lid because the latches line up perfectly every time. Then all you have to do is simply close the lid and latch it down.

Premium Tour-Pak® Latches – Styled to complement the Premium Tour-Pak® Hinges, our die-cast latches add a bold look to a motorcycle and feature hidden hardware for a clean appearance. Plus, the front latch wraps around the Original Equipment lock for a custom touch. These latches make access to Tour-Pak® luggage easier than ever. You simply press down on the top of the lid to secure the latching mechanism. The self-aligning design positions the lid perfectly for a no-fuss closure. A simple push of the button releases the lock and pops the lid open for convenience. The kit includes latches for the front and rear.

Premium Tour-Pak® Hinges – You can upgrade the appearance of your Tour-Pak® luggage with these billet-style premium hinges. Designed to complement the Original Equipment Tour-Pak® latches, these hinges add a clean, bold look with no exposed hardware. The complete kit includes two hinges. Note: A drill is required to remove the factory installed hinge mounting rivets.

Tour-Pak® Lock Cover – This elegant die-cast cover is emblazoned with a Bar & Shield logo. To use, the customer simply rotates the domed cover with their thumb to expose the Original Equipment lock. A detent holds the cover in the open position and provides unhindered access for their key. Easy to install, the protective cover is held firmly in place by the Original Equipment lock and lock mounting hardware.

Retractable Tour-Pak® Lid Tether – Allows you to add the convenience of a retractable tether to your Tour-Pak® luggage. When extended to its full length, the strong cord holds the lid open at least 10 degrees past vertical for improved stability and easy packing. Then the device automatically coils the tether cord inside the housing to eliminate pinched cords when closing the lid. The attractive housing with Bar & Shield logo attaches to the existing mounting points and replaces the Original Equipment cord.


Tour-Pak® Luggage and Saddlebag Interior Light Kits – With these accessories, you won’t be left in the dark. A bright convenience lamp kit turns nighttime into day when the Tour-Pak® luggage or saddlebag is opened. A white LED light pod mounts inside the Tour-Pak® to illuminate the interior, and the two available LED light pods mount to the bottom of the Tour-Pak® to cast light inside the open saddlebags. Each LED light pod features a soft-touch micro switch for ease of activation and a five-minute auto shut-off timer to prevent battery drain. The kits include a quick-disconnect wiring harness.
Three kits are available, giving you the option to start with a single light then add on or go with a three-light kit right away.

Tour-Pak® Auxiliary Power Port – You can charge a cell phone or portable music player from this handy Tour-Pak® mounted 12-volt power port. Conventional “cigarette lighter” style power outlet accepts most 12V automotive-style power adaptor plugs and features a flip-top cover to protect the port while not in use and easy plug-in installation. Kit includes power port, mounting bracket, wiring harness and all mounting hardware.

Tour-Pak® Wall Organizer – Convenient storage net wraps the interior walls of a King Tour-Pak® for easy access to keys, cell phones, maps and gloves. The organizer features three large nylon mesh pockets with Velcro® closures, two elastic pouches, and two open pouches for easy access. Easily installed with included hook-and-loop tabs.

Tour-Pak® Fitted Lining – This lining can be added to a Touring bike’s luggage to protect belongings and reduce noise and rattles on the road. Soft-touch, felt-finish liner is formed to the interior for a perfect fit. Molded base and sides maximize the interior room, and one-piece design allows easy removal for cleaning and maintenance.

Motorcycle Security from Harley-Davidson®

Lets talk about Motorcycle Security. You bike is your investment and you want to keep it safe. I have some technical information to share with you from Harley-Davidson® about Motorcycle security.

The facts. According to the National Insurances Crime Bureau, a motorcycle is stolen approx. every 9.4 minutes with the recovery rate being only 25%-30%. Since you create your customized dream bikes with lots invested like time, money and hard work, you want to do every thing possible to keep our bike secure.

So, the most effective defense you have against theft whether in a garage or outside, is to use layers of protection. For example use the combination lock and an alarm.

• Lock the ignition, remove the keys and park in well-lit areas.
• Do not store the title in the motorcycle storage compartment.
• Use both a lock and an alarm to deter thieves. No place is totally safe, not even your property.

If possible, secure the motorcycle to a stationary or immobile object.

Motorcycle Cover Alarm P/N 69000038
It is a self-contained alarm and protects a covered motorcycle from tampering. It fits into the pocket on select Harley-Davidson® motorcycle covers and has a weatherproof alarm that is powered by a replaceable 9V battery (not included). It works this way:

• Snap swivel clips to spokes, rotors and other fixed parts.
• Cord leads back to the alarm pin.
• If the cover is pulled off the bike, the pin is pulled, triggering the 130-dB alarm.

SECURITY CHAIN AND SHACKLE LOCK P/N 94872-10

The orange lock color provides greater visibility for added theft deterrence.  
This 5'-long chain and lock set is Thatcham Category 3 approved and has many appealing features.

    H-D® 12MM ACCESSORY CABLE LOCK P/N 46090-98A
This 6' long, multi-purpose cable lock is ideal for securing helmets, leathers and other items. The braided steel cable features a protective vinyl cover and a soft molded lock cover to prevent scratches.

Other

features include:

• Integrated lock with a snap-shut keyway for weather protection
• Flexible cable that can be coiled tightly for convenient storage
• Orange highlights, which improve visibility for added theft deterrence

Loungewear & Nightwear from Harley-Davidson®

Hello,
Hope all of you had a great week. This was an exciting week here at AdventureHarley.com. We just have so much cool stuff pouring in that seems to sneak into my messages to you each week. I can't help it, I don't want you to miss anything.

This week we had lots of comfy loungewear and nightwear arrive and we have it all online for you to see. These relaxing clothes go quickly this time of year so you'll want to check it out quickly. We have several neat styles of men's and ladies lounge pants. Skulls, Bar & Shield, Scrolls just to mention some of them. You can wrap yourself in cozy comfortable Harley-Davidson® kimono robes after a nice hot shower using the matching towels. There is one for the guys and one for the girls.

This week was a huge week for new Harley-Davidson® belts. Men's and Women's styles poured in. Genuine cowhide leather in shimmering bling, western, and leather inlay. Wow!

Enhanced Rider Visibility from Harley-Davidson®

Today is a very rainy day in Ohio, thanks to hurricane Sandy. I thought it would be a good day to tell you about Rider Visibility and how Harley-Davidson® designs riding gear to increase your visibility.

When it is dark, low light or nighttime you want to be very visible. 3M™ makers of high quality reflective material has partnered with Harley-Davidson® MotorClothes® riding apparel to incorporate 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material into the riding apparel.

Now, Harley-Davidson® offers riders innovative riding apparel in leathers, functional outerwear, rain gear and gloves with greatest level of visibility.

What does that mean to you?

Riders will be more visible at distances that allow motorist to see them on the road with time to respond.

There are three options to the Enhanced Visibility materials to choose from, and the following material comes from technical literature from Harley-Davidson®.

3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials. Used primarily in piping and graphics, 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials are visible from up to 500 feet away in low-light or nighttime riding conditions. This material uses retroreflection technology which reflects more light back to the original source. 3M’s proprietary technology makes the material highly reflective and the rider more visible to other motorists from greater distances. 
360 Degree Enhanced Visibility. Styles with 360 degree Enhanced Visibility take reflective materials to the next level. Designed with safety in mind, these styles feature strategic placement of 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials to make the rider recognizable from nearly every viewing angle from up to 500 feet away. Harley-Davidson® is the only brand achieving 3600 Enhanced Visibility standards in the motorcycle industry. 

Hi-Vis Fabrics. The highly fluorescent yellow or orange hi-vis fabrics in the main body of the garment allow the rider to be more easily distinguished from any background. Hi-Vis gear is ideal for daytime and low-light riding conditions as well in places where there is a lot of visual distraction. In addition, these styles also feature 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials for even greater visibility.

How Does It Work?
What makes 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective materials so compelling is its candlepower, which measures the level of light intensity emitted from a light source. 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective materials return a higher percentage of light to the original light source through a technology called retroreflection. This technology allows riders to be seen from greater distances. For example, Harley-Davidson® MotorClothes® riding apparel with premium 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material reflects 1,500 times brighter than white at night.
