Ladies - Ride Comfortable!

Well, ladies get ready - Harley-Davidson® has developed a great new system just for women to keep you comfortable while riding in various weather conditions. The Women’s Rider Comfort System has integrated customizable layers. It is designed to be a 3 part system that has a base layer for moisture management, a mid-layer for extra insulation and an outer layer for protection. Put them all together and you have the total Rider Comfort system.

Here are some specifics, so if you are not into details you can skip the next three paragraphs and see some of the Rider Comfort System pieces below.

Why the base layer is important!

Moisture management is the first step in creating a total system, and one many riders skip. Performance fabrics are designed to wick moisture away from the body so that it can evaporate quickly, something cotton t-shirts can’t do. Wicking fabrics keep your skin dry, which is important in maintaining a consistent body temperature. Base layers are designed to fit snugly to the body for maximum wicking ability. For a roomier fit, it’s a good idea to size up.

Mid-Layers - Insulate!

The Mid-Layer helps insulate the body to retain heat by trapping air next to the skin. In cold weather, this layer keeps the body warm so that less energy is wasted on the body temperature control and more energy can be spent focusing on the ride. Mid-Layers are designed to fit snugly to the body for best heat management. For a roomier fit, it’s a good idea to size up. Just be sure the mid-layer still fits comfortable beneath the outer layer and doesn’t gap at the waist to ensure proper protection from the elements.

Outer Layer adds functionality!

The outer layer helps to further maintain a consistent body temperature and protect the rider from the elements. With options in mesh, nylon and polyester, the rider can add the right outer layer for the riding conditions that day. The outer layer should be roomy enough to fit easily over the other layers, and should not restrict any movement.

Here are the part numbers for the current pieces offered in the Harley-Davidson® Women’s Rider Comfort System, and I’ve added their layer function.

Do you have your Mid-Layers?

Hello again,
I’ve got a lot of cool info to share with you, so you’ll be seeing a lot of posts from me in the next few months. Now, here is some exciting info for you, guys. So, you are all familiar with riding in different weather situations, right? Riding in the rain, wind, cold, hot, etc.

Harley-Davidson® knows that we all have our own style and taste, so they came up with the Mid-Layers system for men. It lets men make their Harley-Davidson® jackets more adaptable to the weather riding conditions.

Don’t worry girls, next time I’ll be telling you about a great system Harley-Davidson® has just for women. It is called the Rider ComfortSystem.

But, back to the men’s Mid-Layers Climate Control System. Here is how it works. Mid-Layers liners use a design technique called body mapping to enhance your comfort and fit. Body mapping utilizes appropriate fabrics and shaping so it reduces bunching and bulk at several stress points.

So, that results in you being able to wear every Mid-Layer piece comfortably under any Harley-Davidson® jacket. You can wear them alone or as a separate outerwear piece.
You have your base layer (which is the shirt you decide to wear on any particular day). Then you have your Mid-Layer which serves as an insulation layer, currently Harley-Davidson® has 4 to choose from. Top it off with your outer layer (which is your jacket made of leather or textile). There are four mid-layers pieces.

Mid-Layers Jacket liner 98206-12VM is windproof, with water-resistant polyester body. It has extended poly-spandex cuffs with thumbholes to block air from blowing up the sleeve, plus more features.

Mid-Layers Softshell Hooded Jacket Liner 98207-12VM is windproof and has water-resistant 85% polyester, 15% spandex. It has a jersey lined hood, extended cuffs with thumbholes to block air from blowing up the sleeve, plus more features.

Mid-Layers Waterproof Jacket Liner 98204-12VM is waterproof, breathable, and moisture wicking 88% polyester, 12% spandex. It features a storm flap in front, extended cuffs with thumbholes that cover hands to block air from blowing up the sleeve. Two waterproof zipper hand-warmer pockets, plus more.

Mid-Layers Fleece Vest Liner 98205-12VM is 100% polyester fleece with stand up collar, and more.
These four great Mid-Layer pieces can help to equip your Harley-Davidson® jacket to fit your riding style and weather situations but most of all they can make you more comfortable.
