Heated Harley-Davidson® Clothing

Heat up your ride! Great Info about Heated Clothing and Accessories and why they keep you cozy during a chilly ride!

The one thing that all Harley® riders (men & women) want is more time to ride. They know that you don't have to be in a cold climate to run into chilly situations. You can catch a chilly breeze at the most unexpected times. Use this technical information to teach yourself about heated gear.

Why should you have heated clothing?

 Comfort:
Because you never know when you'll ride into or have cold conditions like cool days or nights, changing seasons and high altitudes. You can cruise on down the highway oblivious to the cold when you have your heated clothing.

Performance: New Microwire® heat technology gives you the best heating system ever. Why?
Because Microwire® is the thinest, lightest, fastest heating system.
Not only is it lighter and thinner, it is also more durable than any other technology to date.
  Rapid heating.
Pliable - even in subfreezing temperatures.

The wires are dispersed throughout the clothing item so heat is evenly transferred to you - across your back, chest, fingers - where you need it without being bulky.

Safety: You all know that when you are cold, you are not comfortable! Right! If you are thinking about how cold you are, then you are not completely focused on the road. Your reflex, awareness and body motion are compromised.

Heated Clothing supplements your own body's ability to generate heat. The intensity of the heat adjustment helps you stay warm in a broader range of temperatures while letting your body use the heat it needs to keep you moving.

Interconnected System:  You get true interconnected systems with Harley-Davidson® Clothing. Did you know that you can wear a jacket, pants and gloves with only one connection to the battery.  Harley-Davidson® Heated clothing features a three-prong Y Plug Splitter that you can plug your gloves into or directly into pants or jacket.

Do you want to extend you riding time?
The heated liners are engineered to snap into FXRG® jackets. Harley-Davidson® heated clothing is compatible with all Harley-Davidson® Motorcycle models and is backed by a lifetime warranty on all heated materials.

To ensure proper fit of heated clothing use the advice below:

Heated Clothing works best worn close to the body however, a base layer is recommended to prevent direct contact of the skin with the heating elements.

Gloves that are too tight or too small may feel too hot. Gloves that are too loose or too big may not provide optimal heat.

You should try the heated clothing liners on under you outerwear and sit on a bike in the dealership or on their bike (prior to purchase). to insure the items fit without binding or restricting movement.

The pant liner works best when worn over a thin, base layer (like long underwear) and underneath an outer pant designed to shield wind and rain.

Heated clothing also works best when:
It is worn under windproof outerwear.
They are allowed to dry thoroughly after washing.

When to avoid wearing heated clothing:
When you are drowsy.
To sleep in.
If they are using electronic health‐related equipment.

Some Q&A:
“Does the men’s Heated Jacket Liner (12‐volt motorcycle battery plug‐in), and the men’s and women’s Dual‐Source Heated Jacket Liners come with everything I need to connect my motorcycle?”

The 12‐volt motorcycle battery plug‐in men’s Heated Jacket Liner comes with a connecting harness and a power switch. The Dual‐Source Heated Jacket Liners come with just the power switch.

“Why must I purchase a thermostat separately?”

Including a thermostat with every heated clothing product would mean you would be paying for more thermostats than you need should you purchase more than one heated clothing product. Rather than paying for thermostats you don’t need, we’ve made the thermostat an accessory item.

“Can I use one thermostat to control heat to two people’s clothing.”

No. The thermostat would be overloaded with two people connected and it would fail. Each person must have their own battery harness and their own thermostat.

“Can I use one dual control thermostat to control heat to two people’s clothing?”

No. The thermostat would be overloaded with two people connected and it would fail. Each person must have their own battery harness and their own thermostat.

“Can I use my H‐D® heated clothing with a different company’s temperature controller or vice‐versa?”

No, while connecting plugs used by two different clothing/thermostat manufacturers may look the same, they are not. Specifications

“Can I use heated gloves from H‐D® and a jacket liner from another manufacturer?”

It is possible but not recommended. Although connectors may look the same they may function differently and compromise the integrity of your H‐D® product.

“What happens if I get wet while wearing my heated clothing?”
Nothing. All the wiring is coated so there is not risk of shock from getting wet. Additionally, the heated clothing operates at such a low voltage that it is unlikely the current could be felt, even if the wires were not insulated.

“Is my heated clothing waterproof?”
H‐D® heated clothing liners and gloves are not waterproof however, the heated components are sealed for your protection so, it will not harm the components to become wet.

“Can I wash my heated clothing?”
Yes –all items except the gloves. Hand wash in mild soap, rinse thoroughly and hang to dry.

Care of Harley‐Davidson® Heated Clothing is simple.

Hand wash any of our heated clothing (except for the leather gloves) and hang dry.
Remove battery (dual‐source and battery powered garments) before washing.
Do not dry clean.
Washing your clothing does not change your lifetime warranty, and hand washing will not break any wires or connections.
Avoid crushing and sharp folds when packing or storing gear.
Always unplug heated clothing when not in use.
Avoid exposing batteries to direct flame, heat, and direct sunlight.
Avoid exposing batteries to humid or wet conditions.
