The Countdown Is On!

The much anticipated arrival of Rubber City Harley-Davidson at it's new location is only 1 week away!    Our newest sister dealership, located in Akron, OH has been up and running for months.  However, the new location was not ready when our owners first purchased the dealership so we've been anxiously awaiting the "ok" for the grand opening.   It's finally almost here!  

The new building is located just off Rt. 8 at the Howe Ave exit (talk about an awesome location!) in the old Circuit City building.   Let me tell you...having seen a lot of Harley-Davidson dealerships myslef, this is easily one of the coolest architechturally and by design.   The color scheme is fun and edgy and the space is just perfect.   And don't worry, we won't let you down with the Grand Opening celebration!

Everything really kicks off on Friday, August 3rd when the Chamber of Commerce will be joining us for the "chain cutting" ceremony.   This is our Harley twist on the traditional ribbon cutting ceremony.    There will be press and notable people in the community in attendance.  And right after the chain has been cut, we will be open to the public.    Friday is more about getting our feet wet and taking care of any customers who are able to make it that day.   Saturday, on the other hand....Saturday is going to be a PARTY!

We'll have a live remote from WONE, a DJ on site, tons of vendors including My Museum Tattoo studio doing on the spot tattoos, a Police demo fleet, a pinstriper, a Nostalgic Top Fuel Dragster, and about every Motorclothes & Parts vendor available!   We'll also have tons of food and ice cream to cool you off.    You'll have 3 chances to win a Harley-Davidson and the University of Akron Football Coach Terry Bowden will be on site signing autographs from noon until 2pm.   Surely I'm forgetting some things but who cares - why wouldn't you come to this?! Come join us for food, fun, music, giveaways, and welcoming the hottest new Harley-Davidson dealership in Ohio.    Rubber City Harley-Davidson Grand Opening Celebration.  Saturday, August 4th 9am-6pm.

Remember Us?

Wow, 2 month blog hiatus...can't let that happen again!  I know how much you love hearing from us ;)   Ok, so here's what you've missed.   Our Summer has kicked off in a big way.   Our first huge event of the season was our HOG Wild Party & Charity "Who's the Sauce Boss" wing sauce contest.   It was held at the end of May and man was it awesome!   Not only did we have absolutely beautiful weather and about 1,500 people at the party, but more importantly...we raised over $4,000 for six local charities!  I don't know about you, but I label that a success.   We also had a sidewak sale, a DJ, great giveaways, and food vendors (because let's face it...who doesn't love food?!).

We also had our first Third Thursday Bash (our bike night on site) which was a raving success.   We had a live band playing for the evening.  If you haven't heard of Electric Mud, you should definitely check them out.    We did our drawings for door prizes, had Habitat for Humanity here doing a cookout, had cornhole, and let people sign up to with a $1,000 gift card that we're giving away at the end of the season.   Overall, a great time had by all.

And, Glenn in sales led our first work stinks ride.  Basically we invite you to skip work and ride with us the last Wednesday of every month.   He took this group on a nice 2 hour ride to eat.   They loved it, he loved it, and we had 25 people on our first one this year!   Mark your calendars now, remember, last Wednesday of every month.

Alright enough about what we did and let's talk about what we're going to do!  We've got a big June planned (as usual) and I think it's going to be one of our best months yet.   We have another Third Thursday and Work Stinks ride scheduled of course.   We also have a demo day this Saturday where you can come demo any bike you want.   But our big events come later in the month with our 5th annual Red White and Chrome Poker Run for the Red Cross on June 23rd and our Dog Days of Summer Humane Society Day on June 30th!   Oh, and we're giving away a $1500 gift card to one luckey person who takes a demo June 11-30 at one of our 3 dealerships.   Enough for ya?  Keep an eye out for July and August details coming soon.   For now, here are some more details on June...

And then there were 3...

Ok, so I know it isn't exactly "breaking news" that we now have 3 dealerships and have expanded our customer base significantly in the past few months. However, there is a method behind the madness of this post. So let me bring the few people who have been hiding behind a rock up to speed. In February, Mike & Franscene Davis purchased Liberty Harley-Davidson and changed the name to Rubber City Harley-Davidson. It's currently in the same location in Akron, but will be moving to a new location this Summer. And as you know, they also own Adventure (duh) and Mad River Harley-Davidson in Sandusky. AND THEN THERE WERE THREE! While this is very exciting for us, it's even more exciting for our customers. Check out all the different ways this benefits you!

That being said...if you haven't visited any or all of our dealerships, you need to. We'll have rides between the 3 stores this summer and we're doing some cross-promotions already. Take advantage of our triple play and come visit us today!

Spring is here…are you ready?

I can’t wait to get home throw open my doors and windows, turn my music up loud and let the spring breezes blow. I have so many spring tasks that I need to do. Like scrub down my house, wash my bike and then hit the road. I know all of you are busting your motorcycles free from the garage and hitting the road. Signs of Spring...New Arrivals

Wow, I'm so excited! I can definitely tell that Spring is close. Last night, I opened my front door and was greeted by the sound of frogs croaking in a nearby pond; and yes, I live in the country. But frogs are not the only sound I've been hearing this week that tells me Spring is near. The thundering sound of Harley-Davidson motorcycles is filling the air. Everyone is so excited to hit the road and ride. Adventure is in the air and everyone is starting to grab their bikes out of winter storage and take in some fresh Spring air. Here at Adventure, we've got lots of excitement with new arrivals of so many different things. You've got to check out our new arrivals button on our front page! We just put out some really cool pub lights, signs and a tent so you can get ready for camping. Hope all of you can get out and hear the frogs singing this Spring, but moreover I hope you all can get on your Harley and feel the wind in your face soon!

LOVE Me Some LED (Lighting, that is!)

So I’ll be totally candid with you. I was never a huge believer in LED lighting. I’ve sort of always thought it was just a fancy way of saying “here’s a brighter color of lights.” Weren’t all lights white before? And since we’re being so honest, I’ll be the first to admit that I was completely and totally wrong. The kind of wrong that makes me blush in embarrassment.

When one of our parts guys was telling me about these LED lights for Harley® motorcycles, where do you think my mind went?

“Yeah ok, great, awesome, neat, are we done talking now?”

Well he went on to tell me what a difference the lighting makes for night riding.

“Ok….” {my mind}

Then he showed me. We have a system set up in our parts department to show how true lights
are. He pulled out these LED lights and shined them on a bike and I couldn’t believe how bright they were; especially in comparison to the normal headlights. LED lamps are much brighter and whiter in color (which, as it turns out, is a big deal). They also provide a superior light pattern over standard incandescent lights. Harley-Davidson® claims that when compared to the yellow light of a traditional halogen bulb, the LED lamp produces a "Daylight Color Impression" that appears more natural to the user.

Ok. I was wrong, he was right. If you have not had the chance to see the LED light for yourself, start asking around. Come into our parts department and let them show you. But don’t just assume you know about the LED lighting because of your preconceived notions like me. I am guilty. And now I am a believer!

Heated Clothing Anyone?

Ok, so I understand that this has been an unseasonably warm January and heated clothing might be the last thing on your mind. But let’s be honest, this is Ohio, it’s going to get cold. Probably when we least expect it. And knowing our weather – it’ll be about 10 degrees and snowing in April.
My suggestion? Prepare now.

From time to time I’ll walk across our showroom floor and pass someone who has just been riding with heated clothing. Why don’t these people take off those big bulky jackets and pants? BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT BIG AND BULKY! I’m not kidding you - it’s light and comfortable. I was new to the Harley world about 4 years ago and this stuff never ceases to amaze me. It can be absolutely freezing outside and someone is wearing what looks like a Spring jacket and pants and be completely comfortable while riding. Because that’s how heated clothing is made. It allows riders to extend the riding season in colder climates but maintains comfort.
